The Challenge
The ability to develop meaningful connections can truly impact one’s quality of life. We live in a society where understanding social norms help establish our daily interactions, friendships, and careers. The number of individuals struggling with initiating, building, and maintaining friendships has significantly increased over the past years. Furthermore, individuals with autism and other developmental delays may be particularly vulnerable to misinterpretation of social behaviors, limiting their ability to connect with others. There are not enough programs that target socialization while supporting the diverse needs of individuals with developmental and mental health challenges. It is imperative that we provide equal opportunities toward social development, where each person can learn social skills and build social confidence within an inclusive environment.
The Solution
We Are Team Us provides social skills programs to support the needs and rights of all individuals to create friendships, to be active members in their communities, and to lead more independent lives. Our social skills groups provide a positive and fun environment that maximizes opportunities for peer social interaction and skill building. We prioritize our groups based on the developmental level and appropriateness of fit. We know one size does not fit all. We meet individuals where they are by customizing our strategies to each person’s unique strengths and needs. We believe in a team approach because we are all in this together.
